Guardians of the Surf? - A survey of rescues by surfers

Have you ever rescued someone while you were surfing? Most surfers probably have and in many situations have probably saved a lot of lives. We know that thousands of people every year are rescued by lifeguards, but we have no idea how many people surfers save. Surfers could well be the real heroes of the surf. The University of New South Wales is doing a study on surfer rescues and we'd like to know if you've ever rescued someone while you were surfing.
