The MoU between the BVA and the RSPCA covers the emergency treatment of sick or injured wildlife and stray animals and establishes an agreement between the RSPCA and BVA on the level of RSPCA contribution to the initial emergency treatment (IET) carried out by vets on these animals. The current RSPCA contribution for IET is payment up to a maximum of £60 plus VAT for normal hours and £120 plus VAT for out of hours. We hope to agree a fixed fee for IET to reduce the need to negotiate for a RSPCA contribution. The RSPCA is claiming that the average payment for IET authorised by the RSPCA National Control Centre (NCC) is £50 but this may not reflect the true cost of IET to veterinary practices. We need your help to take our negotiations forward. The survey is 18 questions; questions 1-14 ask for information on your practice’s most recent emergency case where the RSPCA was contacted; questions 15-18 are about pro bono work and your practice. We are trying to collect as much data as possible on emergency cases involving the RSPCA so if you can provide information on additional cases, please email Jessica Tangye jessicat@bva.co.uk who can arrange for you to provide further practice data. Your help and information will be invaluable. The more evidence we have, the better. Many thanks
