Recent research1 indicates that LGBTIQ+ people have distinctive healthcare needs. Such needs are called upon to the attention of providers and medical professionals who attend to such needs. It has been identified that while LGBTIQ+ people experience health care disparities and difficulty accessing affirming care, little is known regarding the health and experiences among subpopulations of specific sexual orientations and gender identities.

This survey has been developed in response to a call for greater focus on the unique healthcare needs of medical professionals and healthcare practitioners when addressing the needs of the LGBTIQ+ people. The survey is also part of a European funded project on Safeguarding LGBTIQ+ People’s Right to Health (SAFE-R). The consortium to this project consists of the Cyprus Family Planning Association, Dias Media Group, Accept LGBTI Cyprus, the AIDS Solidarity Movement, and the University of Nicosia Research Foundation. Ultimately, this questionnaire aims at assessing the knowledge, attitudes and needs of health professionals (including medical and nursing students, as well as mental health professionals) in regard to the provision of healthcare services and information to LGBTIQ+ people. At the same time, it aims at assessing the needs of LGBTIQ+ people in regard to their access to healthcare services and information through literature review, interviews and questionnaires.

Your participation in this survey is very important. Any responses to this survey will remain anonymous and will not be used to identify you. Information collected is in line with all GDPR guidelines and principles. For more information on GDPR, please visit: https://gdpr-info.eu/

This questionnaire has also been approved by the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee. The estimated time for completion is 10-15 minutes.
