Front Street Evaluation - Business Survey

What is this about?
Information by Design (IbyD) is conducting this survey on behalf of City of York Council. The Council is keen to hear the opinions of local businesses following the recent improvements to Front Street, focusing on the main shopping area.

Question Title

Changing Front Street
City of York Council was allocated UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) to help to reduce inequalities between communities. This funding was used to improve Front Street, accessibility and economic growth in the area. The work included:
  • The installation of high-quality paving, improved drainage, bollards to deter illegal parking, new accessible seating and cycle racks.
  • New wide and level crossings, gateway areas, seating and planting, accessible parking and toilet facilities, signage, new crossing points, regular market events, and a community mural.
Designs were shaped by community feedback including an online/paper survey, ward committee meetings, and drop-in engagement sessions. All of the work will be completed by the end of March 2025.
