Introduction

We are conducting a focused survey to examine the potential effects of governmental cybersecurity regulations on the open source software ecosystem. New legislation introduces new software security and accountability requirements that could significantly impact open source projects, contributors, and stakeholders across the globe.

Our research objectives include:
  • Measuring the awareness of the Cyber Resilience Act (Act) across the open source community
  • Evaluating organizational and project readiness to address regulatory obligations
  • Collecting actionable insights on supporting open source contributors in meeting emerging security standards
This survey provides a critical opportunity for the open source community to document and communicate the practical implications of government regulations. The insights gathered will be shared with key stakeholders, including policymakers and industry leaders, to inform future discussions and potentially secure resources for addressing regulatory challenges.

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. All responses will be treated confidentially and used solely for research purposes.

By participating, you're helping to bridge the knowledge gap and prepare the open source ecosystem for emerging regulatory challenges.
