About BioTalent Canada
BioTalent Canada supports the people behind life-changing science. Trusted as the go-to source for labour market intelligence, BioTalent Canada guides bio-economy stakeholders with evidence-based data and industry-driven standards. BioTalent Canada is focused on igniting the industry’s brainpower, bridging the gap between job-ready talent and employers, and ensuring the long-term agility, resiliency, and sustainability of one of Canada’s most vital sectors.

About the I.D.E.A.L ScholarshipTM
The BioTalent Canada I.D.E.A.L ScholarshipTM (I.D.E.A.L. represents Inclusivity, Diversity Equity and Accessibility Leadership) was created to help students who identify as being from underrepresented backgrounds (underrepresented backgrounds may include Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, persons from the LGTBQ2S community, women, newcomers, and visible minorities) who have shown a commitment to promoting Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) both within and outside of their school and community. An example might be leading a club or committee within their school or community. This scholarship will foster diversity by motivating students from these groups to pursue post-secondary education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). This year, BioTalent Canada will award two $10,000 scholarships to students entering their first year of study in a STEM-related accredited program. One will go to a student who identifies as Indigenous, and one to a student who identifies as a person with a disability. With Indigenous workers and workers with disabilities making up an average of just 1 percent of the bio-economy workforce each, BioTalent Canada wants to raise their profile and increase awareness of the important role they have in the bio-economy’s success.

Please note, the scholarship amount for CEGEP programs (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel), will be $5,000 only.

Student applicants will be evaluated on actions, initiatives, and programs they have been involved in both as a leader and as a participant, that fall under the following categories:
  • Aligning personal actions and experiences with Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA)
  • Demonstrating leadership in promoting IDEA values among peers
  • Recognition of achievement promoting IDEA
  • Commitment to increasing personal awareness and understanding of IDEA concepts through active learning and engagement.
  • Efforts to foster a sense of belonging among diverse groups within the classroom, school clubs and teams, and other community groups and volunteer opportunities.
  • Perceived importance of IDEA in education and future career pursuits
