2022 Global Youth Service Day- Keeping Children Safe: Michigan Masks Project |
GYSD Mask Project Application
In support of Global Youth Service Day, the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) is offering youth volunteers the opportunity to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 by sewing child and adult cloth masks. All individuals or agencies requesting masks to sew, will receive a kit via mail and there is not a financial grant that accompanies this volunteer opportunity. Masks kits can be ordered to be sewn for any time in the upcoming year.
Steps to take in designing your project:
Identify Agencies You Will Support
Decide if your organization will utilize the masks or if you will identify other organizations in your region to distribute the masks. Ideal recipients for the child size masks include childcare agencies, foster care organizations, before and after school programs, and child serving organizations.

Create the Project Plan
Determine how many masks your youth volunteers will sew. Kits come in 100 and 500 mask quantities. Identify a plan to recruit youth volunteers to sew the masks. Decide if you will ask local partners to help with the project and follow up to seek their help.
