1. Welcome to the Frontline Worker Survey 2025

Introduction
Are you:
  • A frontline worker, directly supporting people experiencing homelessness? We classify homelessness as including individuals sleeping on the street, people living in hostels, shelters, and temporary or supported accommodation, as well as people experiencing hidden homelessness (e.g. staying with family and friends or living in unsuitable housing).
  • A paid employee or volunteer working in the public, statutory or voluntary sector? This could be in a range of roles such as outreach, housing, social work and probation.
  • Based in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?
If so, now is the time to have your say on some of the key issues you are witnessing in your work and share your thoughts about the action needed to ensure that suitable, secure, affordable housing is available to all.

If you are a manager who has direct contact with people experiencing homelessness you can still complete this survey. If you do not have regular contact, please don’t complete the survey but instead encourage your own frontline staff to complete it.

Listening to lived and frontline experience is crucial to addressing homelessness. Last year 1,050 frontline workers responded to our survey, you can view our findings here which were shared with decision makers to help inform policy and practice.

About the Frontline Network

We support staff from the public, statutory and voluntary sectors working on the frontline with those experiencing homelessness across the UK. It’s not about us. It’s about you. We work with your ideas and expertise, finding ways to help you and your work. As part of that, we offer funding, community and resources. Learn more on our website.

Guidance for completing the survey

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. There are three sections, starting with basic questions about yourself and your organisation, and then exploring your insights into addressing homelessness, and lastly your experiences of frontline work.

Questions with a * are compulsory, questions without a * can be skipped if they are not relevant to you or you do not have comments to share.

Results will be anonymous. You can view our privacy notice here. Please do not include personal information in your response to the survey. If you choose to name an organisation as an example of best practice, we may follow up with this organisation to confirm if they are happy for us to reference them when sharing our findings.

The deadline for submitting your response is Friday 4th April.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact: frontline@stmartinscharity.org.uk
