Data science involves collecting, sorting, and analyzing large and highly diverse data sets to identify and predict outcomes, activities, or actions. People data science is a subset of this, dealing only with data to predict human behaviors, outcomes, and actions. In some ways this makes it more complex, as humans are largely a black box, something we can’t quite understand the inner working of, especially in the variable rich environments. So it becomes absolutely critical to understand the application of data and analysis to identify internal and external influences that impact how people behave or react and make sure that only the best, most ethical and productive techniques are used. This survey will look at those methods, techniques, and best practices from successful organizations to find out what actually works in the world of people data, analytics, algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
