Community Survey |
Introduction:
Welcome to the community survey for the New York-New Jersey (NY-NJ) regional Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP). Participating in the survey will help the project team understand the perspectives of residents, non-profit organizations, and local governments on climate change impacts and actions. The survey takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. More information about the region’s recent climate action planning work is available on the NY-NJ MSA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) website.
Key terms that appear in this survey are defined below:
Key terms that appear in this survey are defined below:
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions are gases that intensify global warming and contribute to climate change. They are emitted from burning fossil fuels (e.g., coal, oil, gasoline, natural gas) for electricity generation, heating, transportation, and equipment. They are also emitted from industrial processes, the decomposition of organic waste in landfills, agriculture, and land management practices.
- Co-pollutants are air pollutants often produced with GHG emissions. They degrade air quality, worsen health outcomes, and contribute to respiratory diseases such as asthma.
The graph below shows the NY-NJ region’s GHG emissions across six major sources using the Community-Scale GHG protocol. Click here to learn more about GHG emissions in the NY-NJ region.
