Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to engage with our survey. Please note:
  • This survey is administered by Principia Assessments Ltd., an independent social enterprise, on behalf of the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents (CPATA).
  • The information you provide is collected to develop an understanding of the professions we regulate in the public interest; for example, to identify opportunities to improve programs and activities that strengthen the competencies of patent and trademark agents.
  • The survey results will inform the competency profiles for Canadian Patent Agents and Trademark Agents (collectively, licensed agents) and other competency-based initiatives.
  • This survey is optional. Your responses are confidential and will not be available to CPATA, nor otherwise published, other than in aggregate form.
  • See the College Privacy Statement for more information on our privacy practices, your privacy rights, and how to contact the College if you have questions about this survey.
Completion should take about 20 minutes. There are 5 sections. Section 1 asks for information about your practice context. Section 2 asks you to evaluate specific performance criteria on their importance and frequency of use. Section 3 asks you to evaluate the broader competency areas on their importance and frequency of use. Section 4 contains socio-demographic questions. Section 5 includes an open text field to allow you to provide feedback to CPATA.

Any questions about CPATA's competency development work may be directed to the Director of Registration, Jennifer Slabodkin, at registration-inscription@cpata-cabamc.ca. Questions about this survey may be directed to Principia Assessments Ltd. at info@knowprincipia.com.

Thank you again for your participation in this important process!
