Developing Women Towards Inclusive Agribusiness – AFASA and French Embassy
Introduction
The Embassy of France in South Africa is working with the Entrepreneurship Development Academy (EDA) at the Gordon Institute of Business School (GIBS) and the African Farmers Association of South Africa (AFASA) to develop a tailor-made programme to support women farmers in South Africa. 30 women will embark on the three-month programme titled, Developing Women Towards Inclusive Agribusiness, that will be divided into three thematic areas which will run over two weeks each month.
The thematic areas will cover self and leadership development like communication and relationship-building skills, building resilience, personal accountability, and effective leadership among other critical skills. Entrepreneurial competencies will form the second thematic area which will cover innovation and creativity, networking and negotiation, and critical thinking among other core skills.
The final thematic area will cover managerial competencies, such as, among others, strategic management, compliance and human capital development, and financial management and capital raising. The programme is scheduled to be delivered in a blended format comprising of a combination of asynchronous and synchronous lessons. The thirty delegates will receive virtual group coaching support through peer-to-peer engagement which will run concurrently with the training programme.
